Our Story

The first time Sarah and Daniel saw each other was in February 2016 when Sarah came to the Biostatistics Department at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA) for a job interview. Daniel was already working there and was one of her many interviewers.

Daniel's first impression of Sarah was that he liked her a lot. Sarah's first impression of Daniel was that he was very quiet (He had probably temporarily lost his ability to speak) but also very nice.

Sarah joined the department in the summer of 2016, and she quickly realized that Daniel liked her one night at a game night party when he was "secretly" assisting her in not losing the board game. Then they started going on long cycling trips together, including a 100km trip to and from Hell, Michigan. One evening after cycling, Daniel took Sarah to eat pizza at a nice Italian osteria, and Sarah got a little tipsy after her half a glass of wine. While on a walk to get some fresh air, they kissed, and have been a couple ever since.

The Proposal

Sarah had the habit of occasionally reaching into Daniel's pockets searching for "something". One evening after a long day at work, Daniel sat very closely next to Sarah. Sarah could feel something in Daniel's pocket uncomfortably jutting into her thigh. Assuming that Daniel had forgotten to remove his wallet, she asked him if he could please remove it. However, Daniel suggested that she should remove it. Even before seeing the contents from Daniel's pocket, through her sense of touch Sarah could tell that there was definitely not a wallet within. She could feel a solid square object, and her heart started to beat faster as she began to comprehend what could be inside. Sarah extracted the box and opened it to reveal a beautifully delicate engagement ring! That was on September 21, 2017. Sarah and Daniel chose the date of the wedding to be exactly 10 months after the date of the proposal. So the 21st will be a special day.
